If you're coming to the rally, great! Bring a dessert. Preferably home-made... I like dessert. Diddy likes dessert too!
For sale: One 1999 Honda Shadow Ace Tourer. Somebody come two up and ride two bikes back. I have to sell Diddy's Shadow to pay for the stuff she wants to put on her new Wing.
I like pie.
Wanted! Volunteers! Anybody that cares to lead a ride to ... I have no idea where... and has the ability to lead without leaving people behind. You'll get paid the going volunteer rate (pat on the back and a thank you) and the grateful appreciation of the Rally staff and whoever you take with you... as long as you bring them back. E-mail Jim Everhart or Danny Devoid.
We are getting some great sponsors for the rally. Thanks to all who have sponsored us so far and those that have made commitments to sponsor this rally. If you would like to be a sponsor, you can contact Diddy, Jim, Sue, or any of the other folks working hard to put this shindig on. We'll take whatever you think might be appropriate... motorcycle accessories, tires, coats, pants, boots, hats, shirts, money (we can always use money)...
Me, I'll accept the state foods...Wisconsin cheese, Florida oranges, California grape juice, Georgia peaches, you get the idea. Bring your samples and let me get fat(er) and happy.
3/21/2010 Diddy and I went up to Hickory this weekend. She is working hard to get everything set up and making sure that there are interesting places to go and see. She's worn out from all that scouting.
I decided to scout out rides towards Little Switzerland and talk with the folks up there. Looking at the maps, I had a good route up there and back so I decided to check it out. Twisties, lake roads, mountains, it was all there. That is, until I got up to the Blue Ridge Parkway. A few weeks back, the ice storm really tore up the trees and the parkway was closed because all of the trees have yet to be cleaned up. I'm pretty sure they'll have it all cleaned up by then.
So far, we have guided rides to "THE DRAGON", Little Switzerland, Shatley Springs, and the Biltmore Estates. I think a ride to Lake Lure,Linville Falls, and some other places are in the works. Any suggestions?
4/8/2010 Does anybody read this? I'm curious. We have had over 600 hits on this website from 5 different countries. If over 600 folks have seen the website, why haven't at least some of you signed the guest book. I want to hear ideas, thoughts, suggestions, etc. on how we can make this rally better. Also, does anybody have some good ways of making maps for the self guided tours? I want to make these available so that people can download where they want to go before they get here. Ideas? Suggestions?
5/18/2010 Diddy and I just got back from the Retread Rally in Bird In Hand, PA. Saw a lot, talked a lot, ate a lot more, rode a lot. When we got home Sunday, we didn't do anything but rest. I had to go back to work so I could get some more rest (kidding Boss!) We met up with a lot of friends and made new ones. PA has certainly set the standards for a great rally. Thanks to all who worked hard to put this event on year after year. After working on this rally, Diddy and I have a greater appreciation for all the work that goes into it. Thanks again! Steve and Diddy aka Princess.
Wow! It's getting close. Diddy is pulling her hair out trying to get all of the little details just right for the rally. How about somebody teaching her how to delegate some of those duties. I don't want a bald wife! Keep her in your prayers that she doesn't fall apart after the rally :) If you really liked the rally tell her and those who have put a lot of effort into the Rally.
6/22/2010 It's over. Yeah! We're tired and need some rest. Boo! I wish we could have had more time to meet everybody that attended. We had a great time and hope everybody else did too. We had some things that didn't go off as well as planned but nobody's perfect, right? One of my biggest joys as one of the ride leaders is that nobody got hurt. I was worried and I shouldn't have been. Retreads are a great bunch of riders. I'd like to thank everybody that help plan, organize, and make the rally a great success! Now, I'd like everybody to send in their pictures so that we can post them on the picture page so we can remember what fun we had.
Again, thanks for coming. Steve and Diddy.
